A family garden festival is easier to host than you may think. The warmer days are imminent which means we can look forward to making the most of a budget friendly summer. Here are some top ideas for a family garden festival
Hosting a family garden festival is a relatively cheap activity to do for the summer break. it is also a great excuse to spend time with the kids and enjoy your home.
Have you ever invited your friends and their kids to camp in your back yard? Create a unique atmosphere by positioning your tents in a semi-circle for an added social touch.
I cannot tell you how handy it is to have a wagon in the back yard. In the winter we use it for clearance jobs and the summer it carries tons of kids and provides hours of entertainment. Your guests can also use the trolley to transport their goods from vehicles to the BBQ or camping area.
Our wagon is from Brandon Wagons and carries up to 20 stone.
Arts and crafts
An activity table will lure the kids to a space where they can be seen and refresh their imaginations. Let them go ahead and create whilst laying out paper, paint and other art essentials. It may be a good idea to have some cleaning cloths on hand and to use a child-friendly paint!
An inflatable toy
It goes without saying that a bouncy castle is the perfect prop to bring visual to your festival and let the kids be kids. Be sure to place it in the shade and provide parental guidance for safety.
Enough eye rolling already! Childrens play sand can be found at your local garden center and if you are uber organized and buy it during off peak season then it is likely to be reduced. By placing a piece of tarpaulin onto the grass you will be creating a base for the children’s sand. Have a view of my you tube tutorial to see how easy making your own home made sandpit really is.
There are so many more small touches that you can add to your festival such as small teepees, home made camps, garden dens and buntings. I hope my five ideas convince you to host a family festival in your garden this summer!
